Inspired by Snakes and Ladders
If you are a board game enthusiast, then perhaps you have heard of the Snakes and Ladders Game. It is a board game where players take turns going up and down the board game every turn until they reach the end of the board game. The player who lands on a snake will have to go backward. On the other hand, you will advance if you land on a ladder.
This game has been taken from its beloved board context and adapted to human dimensions. You may know it as Obabao. It is a fantastic playground located in the Cratogne area near Crans-Montana.
In Obabao, you need to move over 100 spaces to be able to reach the top of the ladder as quickly as possible to win. In place of a peg piece, you will be moving your body instead. You can jump from one number to another depending on the number that your die assigns to you. In the playground, you can obtain dice near the kiosk that sells food.
The goal of the game is to get to the top of the ladder as quickly as possible. On the other hand, if luck is not on your side, you can also quickly tumble down again and go back a couple of steps back to where you came from.
I really like how Obabao has been developed and how it is entirely free to use. As you walk between the different parts of the playground, you can find slides, Flying Foxes, ropes, bridges, tunnels, and balancing bars.

Obabao: Practical Information
Obabao stretches over 9,000 m2 to the east of the village Venthône. This is a great and fun activity for children, especially those who are visiting the Crans-Montana area. From Obabao, it is also possible to go to the Bisse du Bénou. Signage will show you the way to get there.
You are welcome to use it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Although the playground is open all year round, the toilets are only open from Spring to Autumn. The playground, the car park, and the restrooms are all readily available and free of charge. There is a small food stall in Obabao that sells a variety of drinks.
In the event that you arrive by car, there is a parking area located near the playground. If you are coming by bus, you will need to get off at Venthône, Village, and then walk around 850 meters to the playground.
