In Davos, there is a trail that is designed especially for children called the Davos GWunderwald. You can find it in Davos Glaris, Davos Frauenkirch, and Davos Clavadel. GWunderwald Heidboden Davos society manages it.
Davos Gwunderwald Nature Trail is on private grounds, but it is still open to the public. The public can use it, but we are supposed to stay on the official trail marked by the wooden squirrel. In some areas, there are farm animals such as goats, chickens, and even a donkey. We are not allowed to feed those animals and we should ensure that we do not open their enclosures. These are private farm animals.

8 Davos GWunderwald Hikes
A total of eight trails are currently available, each lasting between ten and fifty minutes. These trails are easy to complete, have child-friendly features, and are stroller-friendly to varying degrees.
The eight trails offer 31 active play stations, including Memory, Barefoot Trail, Magnets, and more. You can find information boards at each stop where you can learn about a variety of things. For more information on the practicalities, visit the website.

Every station will have a specific theme, such as insects, animal tracks, fish, wood, etc. The stations can be combined according to your wishes and time constraints. Look at the wooden squirrel signs and the station colors to determine which path you are on. There will be different colors for each path (red, yellow, green, blue, etc.). Stroller-friendly paths will be marked on the trail.
Every station has a public bus stop or train stop located either at the start or the end.

Along the paths, you will find various benches where you can sit. Several areas allow you to sit and eat.
If you prefer to dine in a restaurant, you also have several choices. You can arrange your route so that you will pass a restaurant at the time of your meal. Below are the restaurants and the trails they are close to. The following restaurants are available near the trail:

Prizes Available for Participants of theDavos GWunderwald Hikes
Any interesting photo from the GWunderwald region can be sent to Gwunderwald Heidboden Davos. Every month from June to October, 3 winners will be chosen from the submitted photos.
The rules of the contest are as follows:
- One entry per person is allowed.
- Photos must clearly be taken on the grounds of GWunderwald.
- Upload your entries at www.gwunderwald.ch/wettbewerb.
The prizes include an overnight stay for two people at Sunstar Hotel Davos and two tickets to the Foxtrail in Davos. No images will be published on the GWunderwald website.

A fun program for families to do in Davos is the GWunderwald Hikes.
All of the paths are easy. A few have some ascents, but nothing too strenuous. No dangerous areas with steep cliffs exist. The paths that are marked with strollers allow even those with small children to use them. Moreover, the hikes come in many lengths and options, so you can choose what works for you.
The hikes do not take place in Davos town proper itself. It is instead located a bit away in Clavadel, Frauenkirch, and Glaris. You should take public transportation to get there from the center of Davos. And if you or the children are already tired, you can simply hop on the next bus or train back to your accommodation. It is a big plus that public transport is available at either end or the beginning of the trails.
All of the play stations were clean, well-maintained, and easy to understand. Information is also provided for the children to learn. For example, did you know that there are up to 20 million insect species in the world?
Moreover, you get good views in an area of Davos that is quieter than the actual town. It allows you to see Frauenkirch, Glaris, and Sertig. Residents and tourists are sparse in these areas. You will also see farm animals and squirrels.
The DavosGWunderwald Hikes is free, but you have the option of supporting the group that maintains it. By paying a yearly fee, you can also show your support.
In the case of a downside, non-German speakers will have to translate the available information. Most of the information is presented in German. We don’t have to worry about it, but those coming from overseas may. Please bring an app that can translate or use Google Lens to help you. Besides that, I think the trail is a great way to spend a few hours or the whole day with children of all ages in Davos.
Overall, I recommend the Davos Gwunderland hikes to families with children who wish to see the quieter villages around Davos and playfully learn more about nature.
